Being a creative bunch here at Wishlantern, we thought it about time to get our poetic juices flowing, and encourage you to do the same, by kicking off the acrostic challenge. It’s very simple: set your poem up with the lanterns in Chinese Lanterns in the margin of the page so that each line starts with a consecutive letter, and away you go. Below is our first attempt:
Call your friends and gather them round,
Halloween is here, the perfect time for some spooky fun.
Inside is where you need not be,
Now that the dark has drawn in.
Easy does it, unfold your pumpkin,
Safely does it, light the filter…
Elevation!
Look how the lantern floats gracefully away,
A scary UFO lighting up the night.
Now that the ghoulies and ghosts come out to play,
The time has come to give them a fright!
Everyone make a wish, before they disappear,
Rising higher and higher, they’re just dots in the sky.
Now that Halloween’s over, it’s time to think ahead:
Santa lanterns, in time for Christmas?
Are you a budding poet? Have a go at writing your own acrostics and post it underneath our blog!
