Over the festive period and beyond, often until the middle of February of any given year, many of us enjoy a visit to the theatre, opera or ballet to indulge in a little culture and get into the Christmas spirit. Based in London, as we are, we are truly spoilt for choice at this time of year, particularly with shows for children (we definitely don’t want to leave the little ones out of all the fun). For each of these shows, a dedicated team of creative minds come up with, plan and construct wonderful sets and costumes to tickle our visual fancy, and we are delighted to find out that none other that the Royal Ballet has invested in some Chinese lanterns to adorn their production of Les Patineurs, designed by William Chappell. The show, first staged in 1937, explores the action of an ice skating party, and the choreography reflects just this, with the dancers somewhat gliding around over the stage.
If you’ve been to see a spectacular treat this year, or have in fact spotted some of our lovely Chinese lanterns at a different event, please do get in touch; we always love to hear from you.
